Casper Museum Consortium

The Consortium came together in 1998 as a joint venture between the City of Casper and the Natrona County School District with the common goal of marketing the top-notch facilities we have in Casper to both in and out of town visitors. We have grown into a relevant and useful organization in this community.

Tate Geological Museum

Come in and see “Dee the Mammoth”, the largest mounted Columbian mammoth in North America.  A native of Ice Age Wyoming, Dee towers over the rest of the museum, and he even makes our hadrosaur look small. While you are here, you can enjoy a variety of mineral exhibits learn about Wyoming jade, the rock cycle, extractive resources, extinct mammals and everyone’s favorite… dinosaurs!

Peek in the Fossil Prep Lab to see what the volunteers are working on.  You might see a triceratops, a turtle, a mammal or a piece of our very own Lee Rex, the T.rex. Located in a neighboring building, Lee Rex is one of only about 50 T. rex skeletons ever found. Lee Rex was also the inspiration for our newest addition, the “Essence of Rex” bronze sculpture, located in front of the museum.
